Hi
My name is Dan Cowham and I've been a Go West fan for years. I always liked their songs when I was growing up in the 80s, but I lost them. Then, one day in 2003, I was watching Night Fever on Channel 5 (a gameshow hosted by Suggs) and Go West were the guest band. They performed Don't Look Down and We Close Our Eyes and I can honestly say that Peter's vocals blew me away. I started listening to their music again, but there weren't any upcoming gigs, so there was no prospect of me seeing them live.
Later in the year, I started watching Reborn in the USA (as I loved 80s music) and I was over the moon when Peter replaced Mark Shaw. Like most of you, I was absolutely gutted when Peter was voted off in the semi-final, but as I've said recently on Facebook, it may have been a blessing - if it hadn't have happened, the tour with Tony Hadley might not have happened and Go West might not still be going strong now.
My first gig was at Sheffield City Hall in March 2004, on the tour with Tony Hadley. Again, Peter's vocals blew me away and so did the rest of the band. It left me wanting more so I decided to go to as many gigs as I possibly could. Over the last 11 years, I've travelled up and down the country to gigs and each time, I've been left wanting more. Peter, Richard, DeeRal, Brooky, Vin, Lyndon and Phil G always put on a great show. On 1 November, I will be seeing Go West Live for the 40th time, where it all started for me, at Sheffield City Hall.
Thanks to the forum and attending gigs, I've met some amazing people and made some good friends (I'm sure they know who they are) and it's always a pleasure to see them. I've also been lucky enough to meet the band over the years and each time, they've all been really friendly and taken time to chat.
So that's me, if you're going to the gigs at The Sage, Sheffield City Hall or The Robin this year and you've never met me, come and say hello, it'll be nice to meet you.
